NY Times best-selling author Brad Meltzer has launched a campaign to bring an Amelia Earhart playset to the Lego company.

Meltzer has teamed up with Lego designer Alatarial (Ellen Kooijman) in creating a mini figure and airplane. So far, they have nearly 1,000 supporters on the Lego Ideas site, which states:

Amelia Earhart was a girl who loved adventure, and never let anybody stop her from trying new things. Even things that girls had never done before-like flying all the way across the Atlantic Ocean. Eventually she broke flying records and proved to the world that women can soar just as high as men.

Based on the bestselling book series by Brad Meltzer and Chris Eliopoulos, this set consists of the bright yellow biplane that Amelia Earhart bought for herself. She named it Canary (which is a cool name for a plane, right?).

Plus, you get an Amelia Earhart minifigure!

This set has a wonderful educational value, but it's also downright fun. Fly! Zoom! And of course, soar!

The presented set consists of 186 parts. Please support it if you'd like to see it as a real product. Our true goal is to then give you the rest of the heroes in the book series: I am Abraham Lincoln, I am Rosa Parks, I am Albert Einstein, and so many more...

Help give your kids real heroes.

Like the book says: I am Amelia Earhart. I know no bounds. And I hope you'll remember that the greatest flight you'll ever take is the one no one has tried before.

Brad Meltzer is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Inner Circle, The Book of Fate, and seven other bestselling thrillers including The Tenth Justice, Dead Even, The First Counsel, The Millionaires, The Zero Game, The Book of Lies, and The Fifth Assassin. His newest book is The President's Shadow.

In addition to his fiction, Brad is one of the only authors to ever have books on the bestseller list for Non-Fiction (History Decoded), Advice (Heroes for My Son and Heroes for My Daughter), Children's Books (I Am Amelia Earhart and I Am Abraham Lincoln) and even comic books (Justice League of America), for which he won the prestigious Eisner Award.

He is also the host of Brad Meltzer's Lost History on H2 and Brad Meltzer's Decoded on the History Channel. The Hollywood Reporter recently put him on their list of Hollywood's 25 Most Powerful Authors.

For sure, it's tough to find anyone being so successful in so many different mediums of the popular culture. But why does Brad thrive in all these different professions? His belief that ordinary people change the world. It is that core belief that runs through every one of his projects.

His newest thriller, The President's Shadow, opens with this simple idea: One morning in the White House Rose Garden, the First Lady uncovers a severed arm buried in the dirt. How did the arm get there? How'd they get past security? And most important, what's the secret puzzle that's hidden in the hand? You won't believe the answer. And yes, Brad is already working on his next thriller.

His newest illustrated children's books I Am Amelia Earhart and I Am Abraham Lincoln were written for his own children, to give them better heroes to look up to. Try them. You won't believe how inspired you and your family will be. The next in the series will be I Am Lucille Ball (July) and I Am Helen Keller (September).

His other non-fiction books, Heroes for My Son and Heroes for My Daughter, are collections of heroes - from Jim Henson to Sally Ride - that he's been working on since the day his kids were born and is on sale now. His newest nonfiction is History Decoded: The 10 Greatest Conspiracies of All Time (and is also out now).

He's also one of the co-creators of the TV show, Jack & Bobby.
