Ayana Haaruun Releases FROM THE SOUTH SIDE TO SOUTH AFRICA

BELLEVUE, Neb. - "From the South Side to South Africa" (published by Xlibris) is author Ayana Haaruun's compilation of articles which details an African-American's reflection and perception of Southern Africa. It addresses race, history, culture, gender issues, HIV and social class in a fresh, candid writing style.

From South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique to Malawi, this compilation of journals of travels offers a different and clear perspective on the cultures, politics and others aspects of the region. About the Author
Ayana Haaruun is a media maker, consultant and college professor. An avid traveler, she writes about African diasporic cultures from a personal lens. A Chicago native, "From the South Side to South Africa" began as a syndicated weekly newspaper column, written while traveling in Southern Africa. Haaruun is also the author of "Original Beauty: Black Hair in Cyberspace," an ethnographic book which offers a pioneering scholarly exploration of black hair culture on Youtube. Haaruun currently resides in Honolulu, HI.

Michael Arbagi is an archivist and historian currently living and working in the Omaha, Nebraska area. Specializing in political histories, Arbagi served as co-author and editor of this work.
