Love, prejudice, infidelity and murder combine in a real-life mystery thriller.

A true story of passion and pain, author Lonikaye Harkless unveils the truth behind a murder and false execution in the South with her new book, Justice Served. When a high-class woman is murdered by her husband in a betrayal-fueled rage, her illegitimate 21-year-old son is executed for the crime he did not commit. After witnessing his lover killed by her husband, the boy's father plans and carries out a scheme to kill him.

Fulfilling a promise to her ailing mother, Harkless began researching to uncover the truth of why Bobby was executed. Harkless' mother believed he was her cousin. She set out on a mission to find out what happened thirty years before and slowly began to unravel the shocking true story of star-crossed lovers, infidelity and misunderstanding.

"I hated the idea of my mother passing away without ever knowing the truth about Bobby's execution," says Harkless. "I made a promise to her on her deathbed that I would uncover the truth and tell the world."

With the twists, turns and betrayals of a modern day soap opera, Justice Served provides a dramatic love story while offering a poignant social commentary on life in that place and time.

"Race absolutely played a part in the events in the book," says Harkless. "Racial prejudice was a major factor in the assumption of Bobby's guilt and ultimately, his execution."

Having finally discovered the truth surrounding the deaths of Doris, Bobby and Sam, Harkless' mother was able to die knowing her cousin was an innocent man.
