Al Cook, a retiree, has completed his new book "Reflections": a gripping and potent tale is a well-crafted and thought provoking read, which will inspire readers to think outside the box.

When asked about his inspiration for the book, Cook said, "As a mature adult I reflected back upon my youth. I was overwhelmed with the number of hypocrisies and transgressions concerning morality and reality that I encountered. Most of what I experienced people cannot or will not speak about. However, I know I am not the only one to have suffered. Due to these atrocities I left organized religion, as well as, my family. Now, my spirituality is between me and God. So, I decided to share my experiences in the hope of addressing some serious issues and possibly allowing others to begin their own healing."

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Al Cook's poignant tale follows the author through his youth, as he faces many incidents of physical and intellectual depravity.

Reflections is a significant glimpse of Cook's young life experiences with aspects of hypocrisies, morality and guile between his dysfunctional Italian family and his Roman Catholic religious upbringing. It contains a large amount of undisclosed events that transpired daily within his life and community. These daily issues and transgressions directly affected his journey to who he is today. In his mother's family, the experiences ranged from lies, deceit, thievery and incest. Cook's religious upbringing experiences ranged from deceitfulness, molestation to extortion. While experiences with both were very similar, they were catapulted by the era of Cook's youth. The 1960s opened many doors previously kept closed.

Readers who wish to experience this gripping work can purchase "Reflections" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
