WEST SENECA, N.Y.

Author Maytresa Mein Lukstein started writing poetry in 1963, drawing inspiration from various aspects of life. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of publishing her poetry in 2010 with the release of her collection, "A Record of Poetry" (published by AuthorHouse).

"A Record of Poetry" will be on display at the 2015 Michigan Reading Association conference, taking place in Grand Rapids from March 27-30.

The poems in Lukstein's collection cover a wide variety of topics, from hope to memories to war. While the subject matter of her poems varies, she maintains one consistent theme throughout - hope.

Lukstein believes that through her poetry, she can bring hope to the lives of readers everywhere, regardless of their backgrounds.

An excerpt from the poem "My Name Is Hope," taken from "A Record of Poetry":

"My name is Hope.
May I come in?
I thought I'd happen by,
To chase away your cares and woe,
And set your spirits high."
