The 45th Annual Santa Barbara Writers Conference (SBWC) opens its Early Bird Registration today to writers from all over the world. The acclaimed literary event will be held at the oceanfront Hyatt Santa Barbara, from June 18-23, 2017.

This engaging, six-day, educational, social and industry-networking writing retreat will give writers (from beginners to professional) the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in their craft and learn from international best-selling, critically acclaimed, and award-winning authors, like Fannie Flagg "The Whole Town's Talking", noted biographer Tracy Daugherty "The Last Love Song; A Biography of Joan Didion", Armando Lucas Correa "The German Girl" and Editor-In-Chief of "People En Espanol", Catherine Ryan Hyde "Pay It Forward", Lesley M.M. Blume "Everybody Behaves Badly", Science Fiction Hugo Winner, David Brin "Existence," and literary agent Angela Rinaldi. Afternoon speakers and panels are open to the public at $10 each at the door. First come, first served.

The popular conference provides world-class instruction in all genres, industry connections, encouragement, networking and community through workshops, lectures, and panel discussions.

"Our conference has changed writers' lives and careers," says owner and author Monte Schulz. "We teach them to find their voices, construct their stories, and polish their work to a professional level, in addition to introducing them to agents, publishers and an endlessly supportive community of writers."

Fannie Flagg, author of Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café and this year's opening speaker, says, "You can't imagine what this conference meant to me. If it had not been for this conference, I'd probably still be sitting on a re-run of the The Dating Game somewhere."

SBWC provides writers exclusive opportunities: to meet face-to-face with agents and editors from New York and Los Angeles to pitch their book ideas, and to have their work critiqued in advance by professional authors, followed by a one-on-one feedback meeting.

With over 20+ daily workshops taught by award-winning authors, poets, playwrights and screenwriters, students will learn successful storytelling and writing techniques focusing on story structure, voice, style, editing and characters, as well as how to self-publish, query agents, and market themselves.

Since 1972, SBWC has been an annual pilgrimage of a Who's Who of literary legends, including Ray Bradbury, Barnaby Conrad, Charles M. Schulz, James Michener, Elmore Leonard, Gore Vidal, Sue Grafton, Joan Didion, Clive Cussler, Jane Smiley, William Styron, Eudora Welty, Jonathan Winters, Steve Allen, Gayle Lynds and T.C. Boyle.

An intimate conference of fewer than 300 students, it is recommended to sign up by February 15th to take advantage of early bird prices to reserve your spot. Registration for the full week of events, including workshops, panels, speakers and access to publishing and screenwriting power players is available now at $575.
