Cabaret Cares Gala To Feature the Best of Broadway and Cabaret


The best of Cabaret and Broadway come out for the Final show of the Cabaret Cares Series. Cabaret Cares the on going series finishes with Gala night on May 17th which will be hosted Jay Rogers (MAC AWARD Winner),Lina Koutrakos(MAC Award Winner),Eric Michael Gillett(MAC and Bistro Ward Winner,as well as seen on Broadway in the Sweet Smell of Success) and Devin Richards from the recent Broadway musical A Tale Of Two Cities.

Cabaret Cares is the ongoing monthly cabaret series that was created by Joseph Macchia to raise funds for Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS and Help Is On The Way Today. Help Is On The Way Today is a non-for-profit that Macchia founded in 2007 to help and assist children living with HIV and AIDS. Cabaret Cares brings together the best of the Broadway and Cabaret community,shows have included performances by the casts of the Broadway shows Wicked, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Producers,Jersey Boys,The Little Mermaid,as well as Joanne Worley, Marilyn Maye, Lina Koutrakos, Ricky Ritzel and more.

Since its start in 2005 Cabaret Cares has raised and distributed over $26,000,and received a 2006 MAC Award nomination. This year the series is being honored with a special 2009 Bistro Award on April 28th. And just received a 2009 MAC Award nomination.

Doors for the Gala evening will open with a cocktail hour at 5:00 p.m.,at 6:00 p.m. a lovely buffet dinner will be served. Show will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a brief intermission. Sounds like fun. You might want to change the date as it is the same night as the Drama Desk Awards. Love the cast but wish you would change the date as I would love to attend.

I think there are plenty of people not going to the Drama Desk Awards that wll come to this event. The show was sold out last year.
