Just got an email the matinee for May 17th has been cancelled. I'm assuming its due to their special performance being added at Midnight on the 18th. That's very disappointing, I was really looking forward to this show. I cant switch it around as all my other slots are filled and good seats aren't available anymore. Sooooo.......I'm thinking 3 options, Bandstand, Miss Saigon or 6 degrees of separation. ????
Already seeing, Little Foxes, DEH, Sweeney Todd, GHD, Great Comet & The Play that goes wrong.
Although I haven't seen your other 2 options, I'd also recommend MISS SAIGON. It's pretty much always available at tkts for 50% off, as are the other shows you're thinking about, so I would suggest saving some money by waiting until the day of to get your tickets.
I think I saw somewhere they added a midnight show as a fundraiser event. (I could be wrong)
Oh, and I forgot we are also seeing CFA as well.
Thanks for the advice, I think thats a good idea, but we arrive via train at 11:00AM on the Wednesday, so we don't have a lot of time. Not sure I want to add standing in line at tickets to save a few $$. Would rather have things all sorted out so when we arrive we don't have to worry about it. So 2 votes for MIss Saigon....noted! What about Sweat? that may be another option...

You really do have an awesome lineup! I would recommend Bandstand over Miss Saigon, especially if you like swing music. But, quite frankly, I was disengaged during most of Miss Saigon, though probably because I know the story. Plus, there would likely be a chance to see Miss Saigon on tour (or another production of it), while that may not be the case with Bandstand.
Would you rather replace the play with another play? I'd recommend The Glass Menagerie (which is not very well reviewed but easy to get tickets for - I personally think there are some strong performances in a somewhat ill-conceived production), or Oslo. Haven't seen Sweat or Indecent so can't comment.
While Miss Saigon is a decent choice, I didn't find it particularly engaging in the first act.
Caption: Every so often there was a rare moment of perfect balance when I soared above him.
If theres a matinee of Come From Away, try for it! And I don't know how you feel about Present Laughter, but man, Kevin Kline in ANYTHING is a worthwhile experience.

That's one opinion, and I respect it. As a huge fan of Lynn Nottage, I have to say that I think it's one of her lesser plays. Ruined, Intimate Apparel, and By the Way, Meet Vera Stark all top it in my book. SWEAT is still a very worthy play and very currently topical. But INDECENT is incandescently beautiful, and it's discussions of anti-Semitism, the role of the arts, and the ways in which history is created and remembered are also quite topical given the current regime.
BUT! Neither of these plays was on the original poster's options. Having seen all three they are debating, I'd give the nod to Six Degrees of Separation. A beautiful play with stellar performances from Janney and Hawkins. And see if you can get tickets to the midnight Doll's House 2! 100% worth seeing if you can squeeze it in!

"Miss Saigon" is a very easy rush (got 2nd row at noon for a 2:00 Saturday matinee), and I was left breathless. "Glass Menagerie" is also an easy rush, and I think it's worth seeing if you haven't seen the play before. Great itinerary! Have fun!
Also, I'd definitely recommend "A Bronx Tale." It's not highbrow, but it's a blast.
Thanks everyone for all the great input! Someone mentioned CFA, we are seeing that one as well. Also my first post was just off the top of my head, but I have been doing some research while at work. (Oops did I say that? Ok, I'm a great multitasker!) As we are losing a great play, I think we may lean towards replacing it with another play. So as a result, as I had mentioned I think right now Im leaning towards Indecent, with Oslo & sweat still being considered. Miss Saigon would be the musical choice (thanks for the great rush information!! Although as I am from out of town, I have never done this before, do you just slowly walk up to the theaters box office, or is it mandatory to move quickly? Ok sorry bad humour) Will have to consult my better half before making any final decision.....
Z5, I would probably do that if I could. But of course Murphys Law....Thursday we are seeing DEH, then right afterwards rushing over to the Nomad to see a late night magic show. So that option doesn't work.
I would definitely try to get tickets to the midnight showing of Doll House Part 2. I saw it on Tuesday and loved it! Had no expectations or idea I'd really what it about but had read good things on the board. Not to be missed if you can swap your tickets.
I also saw Miss Saigon on Monday and loved it. Just to see JonJon Briones was worth it for me. I will never understand why he was not nominated for a Tony.
I'll post this question in this thread, since it is the most current. I just bought a ticket for the midnight performance (which also includes free open bar btw) against my better judgement. I will see three shows that day/night and have to get up at 4:30 in the morning. I guess, now I will just stay up. My question is can I enjoy/follow Doll House 2 without knowing/seeing Dollhouse 1? Thanks.

Yes. My daughter followed it fine, and hadn't seen DH.
I have seen the shows you're already planning on seeing, you're in for a treat! It's an amazing season. I fully endorse Indecent but I don't think you can go wrong (I haven't seen Sweat or Miss Saigon ... yet!).
thanks Thelastven! I think I have settled on Indecent....my wife gave that the thumbs up as well! And yes after many months of research and planning we are very excited for our trip. Actually just packing now!! :)

Well apparently I'm going too. My wife was talking about DH2's Tony chances (she preferred it to Oslo) and mentioned the midnight show, and how if she didn't have to work Friday she'd go. "Honey, you don't work Friday. You should go".
Will be interesting as I'm at the first preview of 1984 earlier that night
FYI, for those considering going--if you order from the Actor's fund website (http://www.actorsfund.org/performances-and-events), you get the show and cocktail hour without extra fees. If you order from the regular Doll House P2 site, you pay extra fees and it's not clear you get the cocktail hour--wish I had known, but the Playbill article links directly to telecharge
This all seems like a tortured path to support Actors fund. Offer a midnight performance - which is a hassle for cast, and sells at a discount - then cancel a revenue performance? Why not simply devote the Matinee to actors fund? Easier all the way around.
