Star ratings on reviews

Michael Billington has said that critics shouldn't be forced to use star ratings, as it's reductive for a work of art. Do you find them helpful when you're thinking about going to see a show?

Distracting as they are so ambiguous!

Example: A critic gives a three star rating but in their review the actually liked the show.
