I've seen it mentioned here a couple of times that the West End forum most people use and is more active is Theatre Forum- I recall it from its days of being WhatsOnStage's forum, and I havent visited it in years- now I see its a protected forum, but I never signed up because I wasn't much of a chatter just a reader.
Ive tried to sign up several times over the last couple of weeks- and cant seem to- the website just won't continue past the sign up form and times out. Can anyone help out? Ive tried to contact the sites Admins but no one replied. Please, I am much more interested in the West End scene than Broadway.
Hmm. I thought the forum was open for sign-ups. It just doesn't show up on search engines. I sent a pm to "admin" so maybe that will help. Also, if you had a whatsonstage account, your username and password MAY have transferred over and still be good. I don't recall if I had to re-register when the separation and privatization happened.
I sadly did not register for Whatsonstage's forum back then- so I have no older account.
I am able to open the registration form on Theatre Forum, but when I click the "create account" button at the end the page just times out or won't load further.
Thank you for PMing admin- I hope they answer and that someone will be able to help, I really want to get back on the West End discussions.
Apparently, the registration problem has existed for a while - messages to the "admin" or site operators are not being responded to. For months, members have fretted about the future of the forum which is still owned and operated by whatsonstage. Since the "protected forum" does not appear to have any advertising support, no one knows how long whatsonstage will operate the site out of the kindness of its corporate heart.
I think it has something to do with the ReCaptcha not playing well with their site, because after it times out if you refresh you see a red error message at the top saying the security code wasn't correct.
I've been trying to sign up for the last month. Is there someone at WhatsOnStage who can help?
There's a mention about Theatre Forum in the Broadway section...and of this West End section too.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

Well, yes there are rumors. But those are just based on fears of closing - not from anyone with actual information. Last week, Whatsonstage acknowledged being contacted - and we await word on whether they are going to fix the registration problem (or even keep the site going).
