I ask this question every year, and I always love hearing what everyone says.
Say you had the power to guarantee one 2015 Tony nominee. What/who would be your single dream nomination (either something you don't think will get the actual nomination or something you would just absolutely love to see get recognized)? And why?
I think I would choose The Last Ship for Best Score. I didn't see the show but I absolutely love the recording, and I think Sting should be recognized for his wonderful work.
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
Geneva Carr for Hand to God. Steven Boyer deserves all the praise he gets for his work, but I thought Carr was doing equally brilliant work- her scene with Michael Oberholtzer in Act One was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on stage, and I'd love to see her work recognized.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
I know its not going to happen but I'd love to see Steven Hogget and Scott Graham get a nomination for Choreography for "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime"
I would love to see Renée Fleming get a nomination for Living on Love because, even though I haven't seen it yet, she seems hilarious up there, and she's amazing, and is doing work up there!! She got fantastic reviews too!
I'm gonna agree with the people who are saying the Last Ship. I think it has a pretty good shot at a Best Score nomination already, so my personal pick would be that it gets a Best Musical nomination. I liked it MUCH more than I liked Something Rotten and The Visit, which seem to be 2 very likely contenders for Best Musical.

Yes! Looking back at only the past 5 years, a play has not been nominated for best choreography or movement... so I'd love to see this happen.

I know a nomination is almost guaranteed at this point, but she just deserves it so much and was snubbed for her last 2 shows (I know people didn't like her much in Promises, but at least The Apple Tree snub is an outrage to this day!)
I was going to say The Last Ship for Best Musical since I personally liked it far better than more likely nominees An American in Paris and The Visit. But since others already came in with that, I'll say:
Judy Kuhn in Fun Home. It's likely that she'll get it, but my fear is that there may just be so much competition in that category from within her own show that she somehow gets left out, and I think she's just doing extraordinary work in Fun Home. Honestly, I'd love to see Kuhn, Lucas, and Skeggs all get in with a Lead Actress nod for Malone.
One more vote for Michael Esper. Having seen him in equally effective, but wildly diverging, performances in American Idiot, The Lyons, and The Last Ship, I think he's earned this kind of recognition.
I do think the other Michael deserves the actual Tony, though. Cerveris, I mean. :)
