This is so exciting! What lovely casting. Mueller, of course, won a Jeff Award for her portrayal of Carrie Pipperidge in Chicago. Seeing her reprise the role will be amazing.
I am salivating at the thought of Jessie Mueller and Jason Danieley singing "When the Children Are Asleep". Both of their voices are just perfection. Heaven!!!!
"Someone tell the story...Someone sing the song...."
I've always wondered this: Presumedly, Alison Cimet is on for Jessie during her rehearsal/performance period for Carosel. But what happens if Chita Rivera goes out during that week?
Just a casual bump 'cause this is now less than two weeks away and I am so f'ing excited!! Jason Danieley, Jessie Mueller, Kelli O'Hara, Shuler Hensley....this is gonna be vocal perfection.
I can't wait for this. I love this show so much. Everyone I know makes fun of me for it. Of course, I could always do without the ballets in the various R&H shows.
If you don't mind taking it as it turns out, it's a fine, fine LIFE!
Carousel is a lovely show, people shouldn't make fun. :) And this concert is sure to be impeccable. The talent involved is just astounding! Not gonna lie, if you live in the area and can afford to go and pass it by, I'm judging you a tiny bit.
Since Lonny Price isn't there to fvck it up, I'd say the chances are better than they were if he was attached. It's such an iconic part of the show, I can't imagine they'd cut it out.
I'd imagine since this is going to be televised, they're going to want to add as much "action" as possible, making it more of an Encores-like "concert".
I just watched a video shot with a stationary camera which I guess was the Troika tour. Watching it (or listening as it was hard to see anything from so far away) reminded me of just how gorgeous a show it is.
Like I say, my favourite. AND as I recall, the first musical I ever saw. Well, for a second time when I was 7. I guess as a babe I saw it in Manchester sitting on my mum's lap.
If you don't mind taking it as it turns out, it's a fine, fine LIFE!
My gran brags that she saw the original in New York (I don't think it's true) but she loved the movie more. Why? It's not even something you could try to remake better now. But this will definitely be a nice installment to the shows history.
