I'm sure there will be a soundtrack released, absolutely.

The live singing wouldn't make a difference in that. A soundtrack is a soundtrack, regardless of where/how it's recorded.

Russell Crowe was tweeted that question a while ago and his response was something like "I don't understand the question, the soundtrack is the sountrack" so it sounds like they're not doing anything separately.

I see...also, more HQ photos have been posted from the same filming of the previous link someone shared on this thread...

Does anyone think that they possibly changed Tveit's hair color because his original hair color was similar to that of Eddie Redmayne's? And to create more of a dynamic and difference between the two when they stand next to each other in scenes they opted to make one blonde and the other brunette?

"I'm getting more and more curious about whether they are doing the musical completely sung-through with recitatives, or they've converted it to a more traditional speak-then-sing format that incorporates more of the novel..."

I'm hoping the latter. Wall-to-wall singing on film can be tiresome. That would be akin to a film having too much CGI effects. Eventually, the senses become fatigued. I've always said they should take out the recitative but retain the important songs (arias). For example, the attempted robbery (where Thenardier recognizes Valjean and pounces on him but is rescued by Valjean's intervention) and the attack on the Rue Plumet (where Eponine interferes with Thenardier and his gang) might as well be spoken dialog. Furthermore, I hope they incorporate more scenes from the novel and flesh out the characters even more, and with the recent photos of what appears to be General Lamarques funeral (which is only mentioned on stage) it appears they are doing that. So yay!

My only quibble so far is, Eponine appears to look attractive. According to the book, she's a "pale, puny, meagre creature," with a hoarse voice like "a drunken galley slave’s" due to it being "roughened by brandy and by liquors." She also has missing teeth, mangled hair, bony shoulders, heavy brooding drooping eyes, and a premature-aging face with only a trace of beauty lingering. One of the faults with the musical is making her attractive (and thus desirable and too sympathetic toward the audience) and giving her too much storytime, while Cosette got shafted. We are supposed to pity her, not sympathize with her. Otherwise, Marius (who doesn't really give her much notice in the book) comes off like an A-hole and Cosette like a Mary Sue.

Wasn't Enjolras blond in the book? And didn't realize they were on top of the hearse.

Yeah, I think I remember Enjolras being blonde in the book.

It looks blond to me -- not Hanschen-in-Spring-Awakening blond. But not brunette.

I like the hair color, but I think Redmayne's hair is a little boy-bandish with the flip in front.

I think it all looks great. The set looks incredible. Part of me is loving seeing all the set pics yet it's a shame all these pap shots and things won't leave many surprises for when it's released.
I have no problem if people have different hair colours and things from the show or novel. I really don't see why, when it comes to things like that at least, they should be so faithful anyway. It's essentially one persons(or one group of peoples, depending how you look at it)vision of a story. I'll decide whether I like whatever artistic choices Hooper and his team choose when I see the film but so far so good.

I think that is just how Eddie Redmayne's hair is in real life.

It can't change for the movie? I don't think it's a cement flip.

No I am not saying that it can't change for the movie. I just meant to point out that they didn't do anything with the way his hair normally is. :)

It's not awful, just a little "nod" to modern times, when so far, I haven't seen that from other people in costume.

It looks like they brushed the sides forward for that early-19th-century look, but kinda left the top to its own thing. It just looks a little too gelled and coiffed.

EDIT: And this is nothing compared to the 'dos in Funny Girl or My Fair Lady. Beehives rule!

I suppose if Eponine can have bangs (per usual, but not really appropriate for the period at all), then Marius can have his front flip ...

It's like a "where's Waldo" for the students, seeing if you can recognize all the West End actors!

Tons of pictures of the students on the hearse:

http://www.cozycot.com/enews/article/Eddie-Redmayne-on-the-set-of-Les-Miserables-in-Greenwich--Where---169549/photo/788090

You can see George Blagden/ Grantaire in the lower right area on the ground in front of the hearse, in a green waistcoat and red cap.

Enjolras did have blond hair in the book, and I think Aaron looks great! Very much the Greek god Enjolras was supposed to resemble.

You know you're way in deep when this damn show finally being given the film treatment makes me feel all weepy and sentimental...like a proud dad watching the kid go off to college, or your youngest getting married, or reaching your silver anniversary, or...

I think I've seen too much. I want there to be some element of surprise when I see it in December. So, no more interwebz photo spoilers for me!!!

I think that's the only way to style Eddie's hair so that he looks attractive. He has one of those unique faces where the slightest thing can make him go from attractive to hideous. I think if they flattened and combed over his front too much, he would look significantly worse.
