Has anybody seen Something Rotten from the balcony? I'm currently looking at front row balcony seats. Would that view be OK?

The previews thread for the show has a picture from the balcony in case you didn't see that.

Typically you want to avoid front row balcony at any theatre because most of them have a safety rail that will block your view.

When i saw the show a couple weeks ago i could not believe how high the balcony looked from the orchestra. I was like "WHO would sit up there, you would need a telescope to see anything, do they actually sell those seats?!". LOL

I would avoid the balcony all together. I vowed to never sit there again after my first experience up there.

Worse than the Palace?

I have enjoyed Rotten! from the orchestra, mezzanine, and the last row of the

balcony.  I prefer St. James balcony to the back of the rear mezzanine at the

Majestic and at the Gershwin; and to balconies at the New Amsterdam and

the Palace.

With the price of orchestra at $79, I found the balcony worthwhile.  When

orchestra and front mezzanine price rises to $149, I will find it an excellent

value.

Doesn't look to bad especially from the front row.If Rotten wins Major Tonys and the prices inevitably rise, watch for these seats to suddenly become more attractive

Saw it on the lottery and got 2nd row orchestra side aisle left. The stage there is built up so you do not see feet and if actors are far back on the stage you only see the top 1/3 of the actors. Still and all,a bargain at the price.

The guy @ the box office told me they are obstructed view. Ask for these on the aisle and you will be fine.

I saw Side Show from the back of the mezz and hated it.

Would the second row of the balcony be a better option?

Thanks!

I saw the show from the first half of the mezz and thought it was perfect.  I went up to the Balcony to see what it was like and my feeling was that I would have much preferred back of Mezz to any seat on the Balcony.  But if you can splurge a little, I think getting those front half of Mezz seats are worth it.

I sat front row, house right last month and they were great seats.

I recommend. You won't be disappointed

I was in row J and row B (or whatever the 2nd row is), and both views were totally fine.

View is fine from the balcony, just avoid the off centre aisle seats because that high bar in the front is a pain in the butt.  It blocked more than half the stage for me when I was in Row B so I moved to the back row (only row that was empty) at the intermission and it wasn't as much of an issue.

I sat in the second row on a center-section aisle and the rake wasn't steep enough because the head of the not-very-tall person in front of me tended to block some things downstage. (I'm 5'10".)
