The Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway is ready once again to bring a season of family entertainment to the region when its new season opens in January. Kicking off the 2015 Children's Theatre Season will be the area premiere of The Berenstain Bears On Stage.

Over the years, the Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway has introduced a countless number of children to live theatre with its productions of classic fairytales and musicals filled with some of the most popular children's characters of today. Even characters from the Disney vault have made their home at Way Off Broadway. For the very first time, the fuzzy forest family created by Stan and Jan Berenstain will sing and dance their way across the Way Off Broadway stage.

Five classic Berenstain Bear stories come to life on the stage, as told by "the world's foremost expert on the Berenstain Bears," the guitar-strumming Cowboy Joe. The audience will follow Papa Bear, Mama Bear, Brother Bear, and Sister Bear on their adventures in The Berenstain Bears' New Baby, The Berenstain Bears and the Messy Room, The Berenstain Bears and the Double Dare, The Berenstain Bears Tell the Truth, and The Berenstain Bears Get Stage Fright. Five great stories all in one live stage play!

Way Off Broadway's production of The Berenstain Bears features Sarah Biggs as Teacher Jane and Skuzz, Mary Ellen Cameron as Sister Bear, Matthew Ciazza as Vinnie and Cousin Fred, Bill Kiska as Cowboy Joe and Farmer Ben, Matt Rothenberg as Brother Bear, Jordan B. Stocksdale as Papa Bear, and Tori Weaver as Mama Bear.

The stage show has a book and lyrics by Stan and Jan Berenstain, with music by Elliot Lawrence and Jamie Broza, and direction by Jordan B. Stocksdale.

To purchase tickets, one can stop by the theatre in person or call the Box Office at (301) 662-6600. For additional information about The Berenstain Bears On Stage, or any of Way Off Broadway's productions, including its Mainstage and special events, visit www.wayoffbroadway.com.

Following The Berenstain Bears On Stage later in the 2015 Season will be The Wizard of Oz, Disney's Jungle Book, and the world-premiere of The Great Elf Adventure.

The Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway is part of The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre located in the Willowtree Plaza on Frederick's Golden Mile. The Children's Theatre first opened in 1996 with its original musical adaptation of Sleeping Beauty. Adding to the guest experience, the characters from the show serve as the waiters allowing the children and their families to meet some of their favorite characters before seeing them sing and dance on stage.
