Mark Brainard

Mark Brainard Mark Brainard was born and raised in Delaware and is a 2010 graduate of the University of Delaware. An amateur (very amateur) thespian in his free time, he has appeared in numerous local stage productions including All About Life, Jekyll and Hyde, Lend Me A Tenor (Henry Saunders), bare the musical (Jason), The Rocky Horror Show (Eddie), and A Christmas Carol (Fred). Over the years, Mark has had the pleasure of serving as stage manager (Company), pit director (Seussical the Musical), and director (The Who’s Tommy). He can currently be seen as Caiaphas in Wilmington Drama League's Jesus Christ Superstar running September 12th through 27th.

When the title of the musical is followed by 'based on the book/film...', there tends to be one of two reactions- excitement (LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, MARY POPPINS, RAGTIME) or dread (SISTER ACT, GHOST, CARRIE). And while the Broadway-bound BECAUSE OF WINN DIXIE, now playing through May 10th at the Delaware Theatre Company, does not quite reach the level of LA CAGE or RAGTIME, it's hard to resist the feel-good charm bubbling off the stage.
