Guest Blogger: Ofelia Adame Ofelia Adame Williams, soprano, is originally from Beaumont, Texas and is an alumna of Lamar University.

Mrs. Williams studied under the guidance of Dr. William Mouat during her first year at Lamar and then completed her classical vocal training with Dr. Barbara Mathis while pursuing her Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance. While attending Lamar, Mrs. Williams participated in the Lamar University Grand Chorus as well as the A Cappella Choir performing various solos within the ensembles throughout the years. She also participated in local competitions and just prior to graduating won First Place in the Graduate Division of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition in Houston, Texas in the fall of 2006 and was a semi-finalist in the same division in the spring of 2007 for the NATS competition held in Waco, Texas.


Since graduating in the spring of 2007 she has held a position as a Regular Chorister with the Houston Grand Opera under the direction of Chorus Master Richard Bado and has participated in the chorus’ of various productions, which include Un Ballo en Maschera, La Boheme, Il Trovatore, and most recently the production of Gounod's Faust. Her next chorus appearance will be in the Verdi Requiem and Wagner's Götterdämmerung.

When she's not participating in productions for the Houston Grand Opera she is the call center Team Lead for a local auto refinance and finance financial institution.
