The Barrow Group Theatre Company presents its 16th Annual Celebrity Doodles Auction & Gala on Monday, May 10th, 2010. Each year celebrities donate their artwork, or doodles, that are auctioned off in this annual fundraiser, at which The Barrow Group also honors individuals for their service to the arts and TBG. This year's honorees include Jon Marans and David Diamond.

Quincy Jones to Address Indiana U Graduates on May 8

Legendary musical composer, producer and jazz trumpeter Quincy Jones will address Indiana University graduates at the Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 8. Ceremonies for students receiving bachelor's degrees will be conducted at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. tomorrow at Assembly Hall. Each session will run about 90 minutes.

Jacob's Pillow Dance, National Historic Landmark and home of America's longest-running international dance festival, kicks off Festival 2010 with the prima ballerina Nina Ananiashvili. The Festival runs Wednesday, June 23 through Saturday, June 26 at 8pm; Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27 at 2pm. Tickets range from $10-63. $10 Friday evening and Saturday/Sunday matinee youth tickets available. UW-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts presents various music, plays, theatre, and films in May. On May 10th at 6pm '5 Plays You Didn't Know' will be at Kenilworth 508 featuring second year actors directed by Rebecca Holderness. The plays include 'Ball Boys,' 'Feeding the Moonfish,' 'Small Museum,' 'Blue Like,' and 'Dead Wait.' At 7:30 pm at the Recital Hall Violists' Night Out II with various solo and ensemble music from the chief representative of the alto clef persuasion. On Sunday, May 16 at 1 p.m., the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum will present a Terza Domenica Heritage Series event, 'Living Legacies: A Magical Pairing of Poetry and Music.' The event will pair the poetry of Letizia Modica Tuzzolino with the music of Alfred Morena, Sr. Family members will recount stories of the lives of these two talented individuals, and will also tell how they have taken works left behind by their forebears and given them new life in the 21st century. Frankenmouth Community Education is holding auditions for actors to sing with 'The Phantom', Franc D'Ambrosio. The area wide search will identify two singers to perform as Christine and Raoul on stage with Franc D'Ambrosio at his concert, November 9 at the Bronner Performing Arts Center. Participants will need to submit a recording of two songs - 'All I Ask of You' and one other song in a similiar Broadway style such as 'West Side Story,' 'The King or I,' or 'Oklahoma.' The cd must be received by no later than September 22. The applicants will also need to provide a short bio and photo. Totem Pole Playhouse received a $1 million pledge at its Capital Campaign kick off celebration on April 22 at Hauser Estate Winery in Biglerville. The donor, Charles Q. Smith, is a 60 year Totem Pole season ticket holder and former board member. The $2.5 million dollar Capital Campaign will support upgrades to the 40 year old theatre and one million of the campaign has been earmarked for the existing endowment.
