Deadline writes that Whoopi Goldberg will star opposite Jermaine Fowler in ABC's comedy pilot DELORES & JERMAINE.

Written by Danny Chun and Fowler, and based on the life of comedian Jermaine Fowler, DELORES & JERMAINE is described as "an Odd Couple for the new generation."

In the show, Fowler plays "a millennial with big ideas, but very little drive, who moves in with his estranged grandmother (Goldberg), a strict, football-loving, former DC cop who needs his youthful enthusiasm in her life as much as he needs her old-school parenting."

THE VIEW co-host Golberg will continue with her talk show duties while shooting for the series. She is also set to executive produce the project with her partner Tom Leonardis, as well as Chun and Fowler.

If picked up, DELORES & JERMAINE will be Goldberg's first series regular role in ten years. The actress recently appeared in a guest arc on FOX's musical dramedy GLEE, on the big screen in the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES reboot, and has the movie I DO, I DO in the queue.

She has produced SISTER ACT and THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE (which won a Tony in 2002) on Broadway. Goldberg also appeared on the Great White Way in XANADU, WHOOPI, MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM and her solo play WHOOPI GOLDBERG.
