Now in its 80th year, the Village Light Opera Group has had an esteemed history of providing performance opportunities to members of the New York City community. Since its founding in 1935, the mission of the Village Light Opera Group has been to enrich the community through high-quality amateur theatrical productions and by offering hands-on theatrical experience. To commemorate eight decades of theatre, Village Light Opera is pleased to present the seminal production of Cole Porter's classic musical, Anything Goes for a strictly limited engagement this May.

Hi jinks on the high seas (and a couple of high notes) make Anything Goes one of the most fun musicals ever written. Packed from stem to stern with memorable tunes like "I Get a Kick Out of You" and "You're the Top," Anything Goes showcases composer Cole Porter's unique power to transport audiences with his catchy melodies and wildly witty lyrics. This boat-bound adventure centers on Billy Crocker, who's hopelessly in love with a wealthy heiress. When he sees her boarding a boat to London, he throws caution to the wind and becomes a stowaway. Mayhem ensues when his fellow passengers, including a sexy nightclub singer and a second-rate gangster, decide to help Billy win his true love.

In their 80th year, Village Light Opera continues to strive to offer the highest level of theatrical experience to community members while also providing affordable performances for the Manhattan community. This age-old tale of Boy-Meets-Girl, and the complications which ensue, intrigue every audience, with an amusing story wrapped around one of Cole Porter's magical scores. Anything Goes runs for a limited engagement at The Riverside Theatre (490 Riverside Drive at 120th Street). Performances are May 13th at 8pm, May 14th at 2pm and 8pm, and May 15th at 3pm. Tickets are now on sale for $25 and $35 and can be purchased at www.riversideboxoffice.org.
