South Bend Civic Theatre's Education program offers exciting and fun classes for youth and adults this spring. Starting the week of April 13, students will have the opportunity to engage with highly skilled and award-winning teachers to explore their creativity and talent in a variety of activities. Highlights of the session include: acting fundamentals for kindergarten through third grade, acting and musical theatre for fourth through eighth graders, playmaking and performance with an Emmy-award winning writer for high school age students, youth and adult improv with an instructor trained at Chicago's famed Second City troupe, and a performance intensive session for adults leading to a production of a one-act play or series of short plays.

SBCT Education Director Carys Kresny says "Whether you're a toddler venturing into the joy of imaginative play, a school-age student with a passion for performance, or a teenage writer or performer, you'll find like-minded friends and extraordinary teachers at SBCT. If you're a theatre-curious adult-or an experienced performer looking for great mentorship-you can "get your art on" at SBCT. You'll surprise yourself with the freedom and ease you'll discover onstage and you'll enjoy informal after-class social and performance opportunities."

Through generous gifts from sponsors and corporate partners, SBCT has many scholarship opportunities to insure that all passionate students can participate in the joy of making theatre.

SBCT's Firehouse Theatre at 701 Portage Ave serves as the primary Education location for classes and workshops.

Go to SBCT's website at sbct.org and click on "Education" for the full catalogue of Fall Classes, including dates, locations, prices, age ranges and teacher profiles. To register, go online at sbct.org or call 574-234-1112.
