Remembering Darcie Denkert's 'Fine Romance' With Broadway and Hollywood

As reported by BroadwayWorld, Darcie Denkert, a longtime MGM executive and former co-president of the studio's MGM On Stage theater division, passed away on Friday, June 10th at the age of 64. Her publicist Gene Schwam revealed the news that Denkert died following a long battle with cancer.

Denkert's Broadway producing credits include DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, LEGALLY BLONDE, the revival of PROMISES, PROMISES and PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT.

In 2005 she donated copies of her acclaimed book, "A Fine Romance: Hollywood/Broadway (The Magic, The Mayhem, The Musicals)" to every cast member and attendee at BroadwayWorld's benefit concert "Standing Ovations IV: From Stage to Screen and Back Again, directed by Richard Jay-Alexander, which sold out Joe's Pub at the Public Theater". As reported by Deadline, all of the royalties from her the book went to the Motion Picture & Television Fund and the Actors Fund. Her family requests that donations be made to the CPMC Foundation/Notkin Family Breast Cancer Recovery Program or JCCF Simms/Mann Center. Click here for the full article.
