Bernie Sanders supporter and actress Rosario Dawson, who played 'Mimi' Christopher Columbus's 2005 film adaptation of Jonathan Larson's cult musical RENT, was arrested today in Washington, D.C., while protesting the corrupt campaign finance system as part of a week-long demonstration called "Democracy Spring."

Online news show The Young Turks caught her reaction on camera after her release.

"This has been going on for a week now," she told the site. "This is one of the largest demonstrations -- if not the largest demonstration -- on the Capitol. We're taking and putting ourselves on the line for what a lot of people across America -- and I think across the planet -- really want to be able to see happen...which is 'one person, one vote,' and to take the money out of politics so that...we can have true options for our leadership."

According to the New York Daily News, "Hundreds of people have been arrested throughout the week." TMZ reports that about 100 people were arrested today after crossing the police line and sitting down in protest.

Dawson, who currently appears in the Netflix series DAREDEVIL, has been an active Sanders supporter over the last month; she appeared at a rally in the Bronx two weeks ago.
