Photo Flash: Philip Kan Gotanda Leads Master Class at Portland Center Stage

Philip Kan Gotanda, award-winning playwright and filmmaker, lead a Master Class at Portland Center Stage on June 3rd as part of the Dramatists Guild Fund's Traveling Masters Program in partnership with MediaRites' Theatre Diaspora. The Traveling Masters program is a national outreach program that brings prominent dramatists into communities across the country to lead master classes, workshops, talkbacks, and other public events. Gotanda joins over 20 dramatists participating in the program. 2016 Traveling Masters have included Anna Ziegler (Photograph 51, The Last Match) in Pittsburgh, PA; Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once On This Island) in Kaneohe, HI; Madeleine George (The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence) in Charleston, SC; Laura Jacqmin (Dental Society Midwinter Meeting, Residence) in Ashland, OR; Lauren Yee (King Of The Yees, The Hatmaker's Wife) in Kansas City, MO; and Terrence McNally (Master Class, Love! Valour! Compassion!) in Buffalo, NY.

The Dramatists Guild Fund is a national nonprofit supporting writers at all stages of their careers through educational and granting programs.Its mission is to aid and nurture writers for the theater; to fund nonprofit theaters producing contemporary American works; and to heighten awareness, appreciation, and support of theater across the country.
