Opening of "You're It" at Tony's Di Napoli Restaurant in Times Square

YOU'RE IT!, The Musical That Puts You in the Spotlight, a new inter-active musical revue by Grammy-nominated composer/lyricist Earl Wilson, Jr. (Let My People Come) will open in New York at the Downstairs @ Tony's Di Napoli Restaurant in Times Square on Monday, May 2, 2005, at 7:30 PM, it was announced by producer Robert R. Blume. The show had successful runs this past summer in Seaside Heights, NJ, and recently concluded a three-weekend engagement at the Actor's Cabaret of Eugene in Eugene, OR.

A clever, fun-filled musical revue with a melodious score about what it's like to be in the theatre, audience members are invited to appear on stage with the cast. They are asked to "re-act" to what is happening around them and the results are fun and unexpected. Sometimes the audience volunteers are given a few lines of dialogue and a small script to memorize, and sometimes they are given nothing and are asked to ad-lib as the show goes along.

"They're taught that acting isn't acting … it's re-acting," Wilson explains. The show is what it is like to be in the theatre as a performer… "and we actually put them into the show. It isn't like karaoke … they don't sing …. And we don't embarrass anyone. If you've ever dreamed of being a showgirl in a large production number, this is your chance," he says.

During dinner service, prior to the start of each performance, a video crew auditions members of the audience soon after they arrive. They are each given amusing limericks to recite (on camera) and those who "pass" the "audition" are chosen to participate in the show.

Producer Robert R. Blume says, "I love this show. What's so much fun about it is that it combines a really professional musical revue with a simultaneous audience ad-lib component. You never know what people will say, or how they will react, when they are placed in humorous situations. Every performance is different."

The cast includes: Ryan Cutlip, Melynda Burdette, Todd Caporizzo, Kenneth Maharaj, Marissa Martinez, Ann Weisbecker and Kelly Wilson. The production is staged by Danielle Campbell with Charles Czarnecki as Musical Director. Andreea Rimbu is assistant to the director, Kassie Kilpatrick is the choreographer and Raymond Pizzaro is the costumer designer. Sound Design is by Bernard Fox Group. Felicia M. Lopes is General Manager and Elias EL-Hage is Associate General Manager.

YOU'RE IT!, presented by Robert R. Blume in association with TheatreSport, Ltd., Earl Wilson, Jr. and Felicia M. Lopes, has been booked into Tony's Di Napoli, 147 West 43rd Street (between Sixth and Seventh Avenues) for four Monday nights initially – May 2, 9, 16 and 23.

The $49.95 ticket package includes the show, a complete family-style Italian dinner with soft drinks, tax and gratuity. Mixed alcohol drinks, beer and wine are available for purchase. The fun starts at 7:30 PM.
