LATE PHASES, starring Nick Damici, opens at the IFC Center in NYC tonight, November 21st.

Nick's recently been in the news as his southern pulp noir "Hap and Leonard" with Jim Mickle has been green-lit for SundanceTV, as you can read in Variety here.

A true New Yorker and eccentric NYC character, Nick Damici is a cross between Burt Reynolds and Joe Pesci; hysterical, NY-crass and a renaissance man of sorts. Not only is he quite an eccentric character-actor who is one half of the co-writing team with Jim Mickle on his previous films, WE ARE WHAT WE ARE and latest, COLD IN JULY which premiered at this year's Sundance, Damici also stars in the highly anticipated film directed by Adriån Garcîa Bolgiano, LATE PHASES which opens theatrically November 21st...one can also add kick-boxer and yoga instructor to the star's impressive resume.

In LATE PHASES, Crescent Bay is not the ideal place to spend one's golden years, especially since the once-idyllic retirement community has been beset by a series of deadly animal attacks from the ominous forest surrounding it. When grizzled war veteran Ambrose McKinley (Nick Damici) is forced into moving there by his yuppie son Will (Ethan Embry), the residents immediately take offense to Ambrose's abrasive personality. But that take-no-prisoners attitude may be just what Ambrose needs to survive as it becomes clear that the attacks are being caused by creatures that are neither animal nor man, and that the tight-knit community of Crescent Bay is hiding something truly SINISTER in its midst...

Damici is a veteran actor whose big break as the unforgettable lead in Jim Mickle's STAKE LAND was critically acclaimed. Damici boasts numerous television credits which includes guest-starring roles on the series "CSI: Miami," "CSI: NY," "Law & Order," and "Life on Mars," as well as having had a recurring role on "The Black Donnellys." His feature film credits include Oliver Stone's WORLD TRADE CENTER, Jane Campion's IN THE CUT, THE DON OF 42ND STREET, as well as PREMIUM RUSH with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

In 2006, Damici co-wrote and starred in the horror film MULBERRY STREET, which earned acclaim for its atmospheric representation of a deadly virus in Manhattan that turns people into rat-like creatures, and earned the "Best Independent Feature" award at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival.

Damici co-wrote and starred as the lead as Mister in STAKE LAND, a vampire stalker who takes young Martin (Connor Paolo) on a journey through the locked-down towns of America's heartland as they search for a better place and take down any bloodsuckers that cross their path. With his gritty style and unabashed courage, the character of Mister is a callback to more traditionally masculine leading male, as seen in the work of actors such as Clint Eastwood.

Following the release of his HERE COMES THE DEVIL, as well as his scene-stealing segment "B is For Bigfoot" in the horror anthology THE ABCS OF DEATH, Adriån Garcîa Bogliano cements his status as one of the top horror filmmakers coming out of Spain with LATE PHASES. In a bookend of sorts to his performance in the cult hit STAKE LAND, Nick Damici commands the screen here, coming on the heels of his critically acclaimed vigilante thriller COLD IN JULY and the CANNIBAL drama, WE ARE WHAT WE ARE.
