Million Dollar Quartet Celebrates 400 Performances on Broadway, 3/26
Million Dollar Quartet, the hit Broadway musical, will mark its 400th regular performance on Broadway following the Saturday evening, March 26 performance at the Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street).
Since opening on Broadway on April 11, 2010, Million Dollar Quartet has been electrifying audiences night after night. The show has become "virtually unstoppable" (Associated Press - March 18, 2011) with productions playing worldwide. In addition to Broadway, the Chicago production of Million Dollar Quartet opened in 2008 and is still playing to packed houses at the Apollo Theatre, a London production opened this year to critical acclaim at the Noël Coward Theatre, and an upcoming national tour will launch next season in Cleveland.
On December 4, 1956, an auspicious twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley together. The place was Sun Records' storefront studio in Memphis. The man who made it happen was Sam Phillips, the "Father of Rock and Roll," who discovered them all.
