Kristin Chenoweth Inducted into Oklahoma Hall of Fame; Ceremony to be Held 11/4

Oklahoma's baledger.com is reporting that Broadway's Kristin Chenoweth has been inducted in the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. Chenoweth, who hails from Broken Arrow Oklahoma, is joined in the 83rd inductee class by Robert A. Hefner, III, Oklahoma City; Edward L. Keller, Tulsa; Judy Love, Oklahoma City; Michael C. Turpen, Oklahoma City; and Lew O. Ward, III, Enid.

Being inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame is the highest honor an Oklahoman can receive from the state. Since the Oklahoma Hall of Fame's inception in 1927, 635 accomplished individuals have received this commendation. The names of the Hall of Fame members, as well as busts and portraits of these individuals, can be seen at the Gaylord-Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Museum. In addition, the inductees are recognized on granite monuments in the Heritage Plaza at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds.

Anyone can make a nomination to the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, and nominees may be either living or deceased. To be eligible for nomination, the individual must: Reside in Oklahoma or be a former resident of the state, have performed outstanding service to humanity, the State of Oklahoma and the United States, or be known for their public service throughout the state. Individuals who have never resided in Oklahoma may be nominated if they have been distinguished in their profession or if their public service has brought honor or distinction to Oklahoma or contributed to the state's heritage.

The 2010 Oklahoma Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on Nov. 4 Tulsa at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. Kristin Chenoweth transitions between stage, television and film. Chenoweth is well-known for her show-stealing, Tony-winning performance in You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown and her role of Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked, which earned her a leading actress Tony Award nomination. Her performance in the musical Steel Pier earned a Theatre World award. Television fans know Chenoweth from The West Wing, the television adaptation of Annie and Sesame Street. She also starred in her own series Kristin for NBC. She starred in the ABC series Pushing Daisies, for which she won an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a comedy series, and has appeared on Ugly Betty and Glee. Chenoweth recently finished shooting the pilot for the legal drama Legally Mad and has joined the cast of the animated comedy Sit Down, Shut Up.

Moviegoers have seen her in Four Christmases, Deck the Halls, RV, Bewitched, Running with Scissors and The Pink Panther. Her voice can be heard in the animated films Space Chimps and Tinkerbell.

Chenoweth took the stage in a solo sold-out concert at Carnegie Hall in 2004 and continues to tour the country. To date, she has released three albums: A Lovely Way to Spend Christmas, Let Yourself Go and As I Am. She is currently starring opposite Sean Hayes in Promises, Promises on Broadway.
