Bah humbug! The Daily Mail reports that Jim Broadbent is in talks to play 'Scrooge' in A CHRISTMAS CAROL in the West End this winter.

The classic Dickens Christmas tale is slated for the Noel Coward Theatre after the Nicole Kidman-led PHOTOGRAPH 51 ends its run.

Improbable Theatre Company founder Phelim McDermott will direct, backed by producer Sonia Friedman.

Broadbent and McDermott teamed for THEATRE OF BLOOD at the National about a decade ago.

Among his stage credits are OUR COUNTRY'S GOOD, KAFKA'S DICK, THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR, GOOSEPIMPLES, ECSTASY, and many productions with The National Theatre of Brent, including THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO SEX, THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD, REVOLUTION!! and ALL THE WORLD'S A GLOBE.

The actor has THE LADY IN THE VAN, COOKING CATS, MAGIK and the upcoming miniseries adaptation of WAR AND PEACE in his big screen queue. Among his recent film credits are BROOKLYN, PADDINGTON, the HARRY POTTER series, CLOUD ATLAS, THE IRON LADY and more.
