Emerging novelist, Jason M. Gold, has completed his first book, "An Uncommon Soul: The DOTICE Protocol and the Search for al-Qaeda" a stimulating and dynamic novel about the thrilling world of counter terrorism programs and the heroes behind them.

Jason M. Gold's protagonist, Dr. Joshua Walker, hoped that his Ph.D. in History could carry him into a tenured-position teaching American intellectual history at Columbia University. But all that changes after Josh witnesses the terrorist attacks of 9/11 firsthand and learns that two of his friends were slain along with the rest of the innocent people in the World Trade Center.

After Josh publishes two scholarly papers on the history and methodology of al-Qaeda, he is contacted out of the blue by an old friend from graduate school who happens to work for the CIA, to help in the drafting of a counter terrorism protocol. Josh uses his knowledge of the Afghan world to draft a protocol for his friend to show to his supervisors. Once the CIA learns that Josh is the true author of this document, Josh is recruited into the core of the sphere of counter terrorism.

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Jason M. Gold's riveting novel explores how a civilian can navigate the world of political red tape and can outsmart even some of the most heinous terrorists of our time in order to preserve the American way of life.

Once he completes the vigorous training necessary to go to Afghanistan to personally test his protocol statement, Josh is repeatedly sent into harm's way in order to infiltrate al-Qaeda operations abroad. With his quick wit, his encyclopedic knowledge, and the covert skills he picked up along the way, Josh becomes an integral part of the war on terrorism.

Readers who wish to experience this thrilling work can purchase "An Uncommon Soul: The DOTICE Protocol and the Search for al-Qaeda" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes & Noble.
