Fundamental Theater Project will present the upcoming staged reading of Supersoldier, a new rock musical with book, music and lyrics by Hair co-creator, Jim Rado. The reading is presented in collaboration with New York Theatre Barn, and will be directed by NYTB Artistic Director, Joe Barros. Ted Rado also serves as Co-Book Writer on the piece, and Steve Margoshes and Marteen Andruet join as Musical Directors.

Supersoldier tells the story of Billy Trubble, a young soldier injured in battle, his spiritual ascension to another plane of existence, and his new found mission to confront the President of the United States. Featuring an eclectic musical score and a rich ensemble, this new rock musical is a kaleidoscopic exploration of the beauty in the world and the fragility of life as seen through all the colors of the rainbow.

Rado previously collaborated with FTP, playing the role of 'Hamlet's Ghost' in the company's benefit reading of Hamlet. Alec Baldwin, Kate Mulgrew and FTP Co-Artistic Director, Sam Underwood, also starred in the 2010 reading. Internationally celebrated as the co-author of Hair, Rado also originated the role of 'Richard the Lionheart' in the Broadway production of James Goldman's The Lion in Winter.

Following FTP's practice of collaborating established and emerging artists, Joe Barros, and Associate Director Katharine Pettit, will direct a cast comprising a host of NYC talent, including: Todd Adamson, Anthony Alfaro, Debbie Andrews (Hair), Adam Theodore Barry, Anna Bergman, LaDonna Burns, Amber Carson, Tessa Fairey, Anthony Fett, Anne Fraser Thomas, Gerrianne Genga, Tyson Jennette (The Book of Mormon), Sena Lee, Paul Louis Lessard, T.J. Mannix (Radio City Christmas Spectacular), Jeremy Pasha, Katherine Pettit, Leah Roth, Talia Thiesfield (Goodspeed's LMNOP), Xalvador Tin-Bradbury, David Tomczak, Vishal Vaidya, Luis Villabon (Reefer Madness), John Wascavage, Chris Yonan and Noah Zachary (Goodspeed's Amazing Grace).

Dedicated to focusing on the fundamental attributes of theater as a vehicle to create dialogues within the community, FTP strives to produce dynamic experiences in the performing arts that resonate with audiences across the globe, cultivating artistic collaborations and exploring diverse material, with an emphasis on both process and product.

FTP's free staged readings of Supersoldier will be held Monday October 14th @ 2pm and 7pm at MMAC, 248 W.60th St. NYC.

Tickets for this event are free and reservations are highly recommended. For reservations contact boxoffice@fundamentaltheaterproject.com.
