Local NYC based company, Dance Dot, will be hosting a variety of free tap dance classes to celebrate National Tap Dance Day on Saturday May 25th. All classes are open to the public and range from absolute beginner levels to the advanced tap dance professional.

Dance Dot hopes to inspire the next generation of tap dancers by giving them the opportunity to keep dancing; hence the free classes and their signature product, the Dance Dot, a personal tap dance floor that is transportable, colorful, and fun!

Throughout the day, Dance Dot will be hosting product giveaways, discounts on future tap classes, and much more to commemorate the holiday. TAP YOUR HEART OUT will be held at Nola Studios, 244 West 54th St., 5th floor in Manhattan.

All classes are completely free and open to the public. The schedule is as follows.

• 11:00am Try Tap - Basic Tap for Kids under 12
• 12:00pm Love Tap - Beginner/Intermediate Tap for Kids under 12
• 1:00pm Try Tap - Basic Tap for Kids/Adults 12+
• 2:00pm: Love Tap - Beginner/Intermediate Tap for Kids/Adults 12+
• 3:00pm: Live Tap - Master Tap Class for Advanced/Professional Dancers

Classes will be taught by Jackie Covas, owner of Dance Dot and faculty member at Shuffles Broadway Tap & Musical Theater School, Justin Bocitto of Broadway Dance Center and Group Theater Too, Jason Marquette of MPower and Pam Covas of TaPriority. For those who want to try tap but don't have tap shoes, no need to worry. Hard soled shoes or boots will work just fine.

"We're very excited to celebrate National Tap Dance Day by offering these classes free to the public. It gives everyone the opportunity to try tap for the first time or return to it as a former tap dancer. We also think it's a great opportunity for the community to come together, have fun and learn about the art of tap dancing by actually doing it," said Covas. "We're also very excited to educate the public on how to use the Dance Dot, which has helped so many dancers since we first launched the product over two years ago. Being New Yorkers, a lot of us are limited on space when it comes to being able to practice tap dance at home. The Dance Dot really allows everyone to keep dancing!"
