Feinstein's/54 Below Presents Tennessee Williams Bio-Musical A HOUSE OF GLASS in Concert

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents "A House of Glass" in concert on Monday September 12, 2016 at 7 PM. Broadway's Joshua Morgan (Les Mis), Lawrence Clayton (The Color Purple), Leah Horowitz (Follies), Jelani Remy (The Lion King), Austin Colby (The Sound of Music), Theresa McCarthy (Floyd Collins) and Megan Kane take part in a one night only concert version of this exciting new musical!
The evening is written by Paul Leavitt (Music), Shelley Herman Gillon (Book/Lyrics) and Harriet McFaul Pilger (Book/Lyrics). It is conceived and directed by James Will McBride and musically directed and accompanied by Alex LeFevre.
What is it about Blanche DuBois, about Amanda Wingfield, about Big Daddy that so sticks in the mind of the theatre-going public, generations past their opening nights? What kind of a man, what kind of a mind could create these magnificent, complex beings, shaped, nuanced, shockingly real, eminently timeless? Spanning the great arc of the life of one of the most gifted and prolific dramatists of the last century, the new musical, A House of Glass, explores the demons that drove and angels that guided shy, diffident Thomas Lanier Williams, turning him into Tennessee Williams-genius, addict, icon and iconoclast. It chronicles his life-long relationship with his mentally ill sister, Rose, and his tortured love life. With a musical soundscape as diverse as the characters Williams penned, this concert will showcase this promising new musical in a streamlined and abridged presentation featuring some of NYC's finest talents.

Joshua is currently appearing in the Broadway revival of Les Miserables. Most recently he appeared in Arena Stage's production of Fiddler on the Roof and Signature Theatre's production of Nick Blaemire's Soon. As a director, Joshua spearheaded three sold out productions of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in NC and DC, received rave reviews for his work on Neil LaBute's Some Girl(s) as well as the Washington, DC premiere of Madhuri Shekar's, In Love and Warcraft for which he is currently nominated for a Helen Hayes Award. Joshua was the founding Artistic Director of No Rules Theatre Company for 6 years and sits on the board of the Artists Crossing in NY, NY. Theresa McCarthy was recently seen in The Public Theatre's world premiere production of Michael John LaChiusa's First Daughter Suite. She has originated roles in innovative works on and off-Broadway including Titanic, Floyd Collins, Saturn Returns, and Queen Of The Mist. She is a featured vocalist on those soundtracks and on the Nonesuch recordings Bright Eyed Joy (the songs of Ricky Ian Gordon), Stephen Sondheim's The Frogs/Evening Primrose, and Audra McDonald's debut recording, Way Back to Paradise. Theresa was a soloist in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's acclaimed Bernstein Mass, which played in Baltimore, in New York at Carnegie Hall, and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, with an acclaimed recording by Naxos. Theresa's television and other recorded media work include appearances on NBC's Law and Order and Netflix's House of Cards. Theresa is a professor of acting at Wagner College.

Jelani Remy is currently starring as Simba is Disney's THE LION KING on Broadway, after having played the role in Las Vegas and on tour. He is a proud member of AEA and supporter of art.
JAMES WILL MCBRIDE
James Will McBride has conceived and produced concerts and cabaret at 54 Below in New York City as well as venues in Houston, New Orleans, and Hartford. He directs and writes The No Rules Show, hosted by Joshua Morgan. His theatrical directing credits include Tauris, War Prayer, The Little Ghost, and The Retreating World. He served as resident assistant director at Hartford Stage for two seasons and is a former Directing Candidate in The American Theatre Wing's SpringBoradNYC program. He's assisted directors including Darko Tresnjak, Kent Thompson, Mark Lamos, Michael Wilson, and Giovanna Sardelli. HARRIET MCFAUL PILGER
A graduate of The Neighborhood Playhouse in New York, where she studied directly under Sanford Meisner, Harriet has starred in Washington DC area productions and has just completed two terms as president of the Vienna Theatre Company in Northern Virginia. She is a recovering attorney who used to put bad guys in jail. Harriet is a native New Orleanian who arrived in the Washington area to go to school and forgot to go home. She is a member of the Authors Guild.
PAUL LEAVITT
Compositions for theatre include: score to musical "A House of Glass", "Le Roman d'un Tricheur" by Sacha Guitry, JL Cochet, Theatre Montparnasse, multiple commissions and several film scores. His choral performed by the NYC Master Chorale among others, in concert venues such as Alice Tully Hall, the Kennedy Center. Cecelia Porter, contributing critic for the Washington Post said, "Paul Leavitt's Requiem should belong in every chorus's repertoire." Début as a concert pianist at 15 with the Albany Symphony Orchestra. MM Juilliard School, laureate of the International Steinway Competition (1989) in Paris. Frequent recitalist as pianist, organist & conductor.
SHELLEY HERMAN GILLON
In addition to A HOUSE of GLASS, Shelley Herman Gillon's works include Bulletins from FATLAND, produced by Horizons Theater, and Crawling from the Ashes, an adaptation of Julia Caswell Daitch's 9/11 memoir, which debuted at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Podcasts of her play, Raised by the Radio, are due to launch in in 2017. While in her twenties, Gillon founded an Off-Off Broadway company and several of her early plays were commissioned by theaters in her native New Orleans. She's a graduate of The Neighborhood Playhouse and a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.
