As one of the hundreds of events and attractions happening worldwide this year commemorating 2016 at the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, The British Council and The Old Vic have devised a fun website giving users a taste of what it's like to direct a Shakespeare play.

Visit mixtheplay.britishcouncil.org, where Old Vic Baylis Director Joe Murphy introduces visitors to their task of casting and choosing design interpretations for the famous scene from A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM where Queen of the Fairies Titania, under the spell of a love potion, falls for the bumbling weaver Nick Bottom, who has been partially transformed into a donkey.

The role of Bottom has already been cast, but the site allows participants to audition three potential Titanias, and choose a specific acting style. Directors are then offered choices for the design of the scene and incidental music used.

The finished product can then be posted on social media.
