Bee Sting Theater Company will resurrect Brecht's Drums in the Night, a show unseen in New York for a generation. The play will be presented from January 19th through 21st and 26th through 28th at Downstairs at The Flea (41 White Street, between Broadway and Church).

Drums in the Night "shows us the grotesque reflections we as Americans fear to see in the mirror: the soldier returning home from an unjust war, a revolution doomed to failure, a country stuck in its own complacency.
A young man returns from four years of fighting and imprisonment in World War I to find his fiancée engaged to another man and his city on the edge of revolution. It is a tale of a people pushed passed boundaries, the inability to fight back, and the very personal battle for happiness that seems beyond anyone's reach. Drums in the Night brims with humor, anger, confusion, love, and venereal disease," state press notes.

Directed by Deborah Wolfson, the play will feature
Adeel Akhtar, Laurence Braun, Michelle Danahy, Drew Hildebrand, Meredith Holzman, Dave Marcus Hana McGrath, Wil Petre, Scott Sherman, Zach Samalin, Jonah Westerman, Kerry-Jayne Wilson. The show will boast sets by Michael Goldsheft, costumes by Asta Bennie Hostetter, sound by Joe Novak and lighting by Sarah Nerboso.

The Mission of the Bee Sting Theater is: to create art, to cause trouble, to be risky, to be fearless, to be joyful, to explore the juxtaposition of performance theory and practice through a collaboratively based creative process. In short, to "Float like a butterfly, sting like bee."

Drums in the Night's performance schedule is Thursday- Saturday at 10 pm. Tickets are $10, and include a free beer or soft drink. To order, visit www.theatermania.com or call 212-352-3103.
