Tomorrow night, FOX will transport viewers back to Rydell High for GREASE: LIVE, airing January 31 (7PM ET live/PT tape-delayed). BroadwayWorld just met with director Thomas Kail, who told us all about how things are coming together on set and what could be up next!

GREASE: LIVE will reintroduce and reimagine some of the show's most memorable moments, great music and timeless love story to an entirely new generation. In this live television adaptation of the musical classic, the beginning of senior year means the end of Danny and Sandy's summer romance - until Sandy unexpectedly transfers to Danny's high school. With their friends pulling them in different directions, it's up to Danny and Sandy to stay hopelessly devoted as they make their way from Rydell High to a new frontier.

Kail directed the Broadway musical "Hamilton." He received the Drama Desk Award, a Lortel Award and an Obie for his Off-Broadway production of "Hamilton" at The Public Theater. He received a Tony Award nomination for his direction of "In the Heights," the Broadway musical that won the Tony Award for Best Musical. Additional Broadway credits include the new plays "Lombardi" and "Magic/Bird." Additional Off-Broadway credits include "The Wiz" and Randy Newman's "Faust" at New York City Center, as well as new plays at Lincoln Center and Second Stage. He is the co-creator and director of the hip-hop improv group Freestyle Love Supreme. Kail's television credits include "2 Broke Girls" and 2010's "The Oprah Winfrey Oscar Special," as well as the TV show "Freestyle Love Supreme," on which he served as executive producer.
