BWW TV Exclusive: CUTTING-EDGE COMPOSERS CORNER- Conrad Riccamora and Amber Gray Sing Jones & Rno's 'As Beautiful'

This week we present the song "As Beautiful," from the new musical Galois written by Aaron Jones and Sung Rno. The wonderful Conrad Riccamora and Amber Gray performed it at our concert at 54 Below.

"This song is the classic artist's struggle. Galois has two loves: Stephanie, and Mathematics. At this moment he is forced to decide where to focus his energy. Do you chase your art (in this case, mathematics), or love for another person? They are felt equally, and experienced deeply, but inevitably collide. That's where this song lives."

Aaron Jones is a composer/performer based out of Brooklyn. He performs with the band Luscious Jackson. He does experimental theatre art-rock performances with his band, Happy Chums. With his wife/writing partner, Anna, he has a band that does music for kids: Banana Baron. He is the author of numerous operas, musicals, and plays, and creates music for dance, theatre and film. Aaron holds an MFA from NYU's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. www.aaronjonesmusic.com

Sung Rno is a playwright, poet and screenwriter. His plays have been produced by Ma-Yi Theater Company and Second Generation (2G), in regional theaters, and in Seoul and London. Current projects include a new play, HAPPY, originally commissioned by Second Stage and Time Warner. Sung earned a BA in physics from Harvard, and an MFA in creative writing from Brown. He is an alumnus of New Dramatists and a founder of the Ma-Yi Writers' Lab. GALOIS will be presented as a staged reading in June at Second Stage, part of a residency with Second Generation (2G@2ST) and also featured in the Summer Ice Factory workshop series at the New Ohio Theater.
