Last week saw the release of SimG Productions' latest recording, Sleeping Arrangements by Chris Burgess. Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by popular author Sophie Kinsella, the London premiere was showcased at the Landor Theatre back in April to rave reviews.

There is an element of farce throughout but, in a nutshell, we are treated to a heart-warming tale of ex-lovers who rekindle their passion on holiday in Spain...whilst having company in the form of their existing families! Reminiscing and exploring what could have been is the central theme.

Although initially not taken with select musical numbers, on the second listen they really pack a punch. With a wonderful cast starring Jenny Gayner, Steven Serlin, Liza Pulman, Grant Neal, Sabrina Aloueche and Adam Pettigrew, their talent competently carries the story forward. It is a very visual score by Chris Burgess with lots of Spanish influences and catchy melodies that often reoccur, notably in the title track and then going into 'Eating Arrangements' and 'Drinking Arrangements'. Highlights include 'You're The Boy' featuring the powerhouse vocals of Aloueche and the charismatic Pettigrew and 'Falling' at the end of Act One, a stunning ballad between Gayner and Serlin.

The lyrics are witty and the recording is incredibly engaging. There are tallies that can be drawn with the incredibly successful 'Departure Lounge' but saying that has tons of originality.

Sleeping Arrangements is available to buy direct from www.SimGProductions.com and is only presently available in hard copy.
