In a new interview with PEOPLE, GIRLS star Andrew Rannells reveals what's ahead for his character Elijah on the upcoming fifth season of the HBO comedy.

"Elijah gets to be a little bit serious this season, and he gets to have a serious relationship. I'm very excited about it," revealed the Tony Award nominee. "We haven't seen it before so it's not like something he is good at. You're going to see him sort of flail around a lot."

The 36-year-old, who recently stripped down to his panties in the title role of Broadway's HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, also shared that the next season will involve scenes with "a lot of underwear." He teased, "The night before [filming], I always wish that I looked like Ryan Kwanten. But I just know that that's not going to happen overnight, and I'm clearly not really able to put in the work or, more specifically, willing to put in the work. So it is what it is."

He received a Tony nomination for his role as 'Elder Price' in THE BOOK OF MORMON and recently took the stage in Broadway's HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH. Among his other theatre credits are JERSEY BOYS and HAIRSPRAY.
