Flying Penguin Productions in association with the State Theatre Company of South Australia and Holden Street Theatres, proudly present one of the most highly anticipated theatre productions of the year: the South Australian Premiere of The Dark Room by Angela Betzien from 12 - 28 September, 2013 at The Studio, Holden Street Theatres.

Winner of the award for Best New Australian Work at the prestigious 2011 Sydney Theatre Awards, The Dark Room is a haunting, confronting and stunning psychological thriller about love, loss and the ghosts of the past.

Multi-award winning playwright, Angela Betzien, is regarded as one of contemporary Australia's most significant and celebrated new writers. Her plays have been performed widely across Australia and overseas and include: The Girl Who Cried Wolf (Sydney Opera House); Helicopter (Melbourne Theatre Company) and War Crimes (QLD Literary Award for Playwriting). The Dark Room was commissioned and first presented in 2009 by Perth's BLACK SWAN State Theatre Company. Following a period of development, a revised version of the play was presented in a critically acclaimed and sold-out season for Belvoir Street Theatre in 2011. This is its first production in South Australia.

The Dark Room features the work of Director David Mealor (Winner Adelaide Critic's Circle Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement), Set and Costume Designer Kathryn Sproul (True West), Lighting Designer Mark Pennington (Blackbird), Composer and Sound Designer Quentin Grant (The Birthday Party) and stars Jordan Cowan (2012 ACArts Graduate), Nicholas Garsden (Winner Best Actor Sunday Mail 'Horatio' Awards), Patrick Graham (Winner Advertiser Oscart 'On The Rise'), Tamara Lee (Winner Adelaide Critic's Circle Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement), Anna Steen (The City) and Taro Miller- Koncz (Kurruru Youth Performing Arts).
