Acclaimed European piano and violin duo, Chris Jarrett and Luca Ciarla, will open Recitals Australia's exciting new Virtuosi Series and the Elder Perspectives Series with a not to be missed performance on 5 March in Elder Hall.

Berlin based Chris Jarrett utilizes the structures of classical music and the freedom of jazz improvisation in his compositions and performances ranging from opera and film to chamber and solo music.

Luca Ciarla is an exceptional violinist who transcends genres in his performance of classical, jazz, hot club and world music. Famous for his gypsy touch and sprite like playing, Ciarla has performed in over forty countries and on every continent.

Together, Ciarla and Jarrett move effortlessly through contemporary, folk and jazz idioms in their performance of striking new creations.

Ciarla and Jarrett are currently touring Australia, Indonesia and Singapore. They perform in Adelaide for one night only.

"Italian violin virtuoso, Luca Ciarla, and internationally acclaimed pianist and composer, Chris Jarrett, are one of today's most dynamic European duos," says Recitals Australia President Mark de Raad. "Ciarla and Jarrett will make an excellent opener to this year's Virtuosi Series of five concerts which has an underlying strings theme and features fascinating repertoire from the classical era through high romanticism to the music of today. Another superb highlight will be the premiere of the Dean-Moore-Dean trio, featuring Brett Dean, Lisa Moore & Paul Dean later in the year."

The Recitals Australia Virtuosi Series includes Elizabeth Layton and Ian Munro on 10 May, Brett Dean, Paul Dean and Lisa Moore on 7 August, Geoffrey Collins and Alice Giles on 14 September and piano prodigy, Benjamin Grosvenor on 8 November.
