The first Italian Festival was held Oct/Nov 1976 and was a month long affair. To commence the next 40 years, Italo-Australians will celebrate Italian culture well beyond the normal Carnevale weekend event. Get ready for the Carnevale program which will be out by the end of August 2017.

To keep things rolling along several events have been planned for 2017. We kick off the year with a Variety Show at Marche Club 3-5 March. There are three shows only - for two dinners and one luncheon. The show will comprise of a 3 course meal, dancing to the dulcet strains of Fred Labrosciano's The Sounds and a floor show.

Heading the line-up is MC and comedian from Melbourne James Liotta with a bevy of local talent including Allegra - the folkloric duo of Nina Fantasia and Teresa Esposito, Michela Capriccioni with modern Italian pop songs, tenor David Visentin, singing popular Italian and operatic numbers and Razi Magician dazzling us with magic skills and tricks.

Opening and closing the show with their special style of movement and dance will be Brazilian Dance Fusion.

Other events are planned - a Carnevale Quiz Night 19th May, a Ballo dei comitati (dinner dance) 24th June and following on from the successes of OPERATIVO I & II, OPERATIVO III is scheduled for 23rd July at Elder Hall.

Tickets are $70 a head - $60 for a group of six of more (tables 10-12 ideal) and can be found at adelaidefringe.com.au.
