Pointblank Pictures in conjunction with The Australian Cultural Fund has announced the development of a new feature film to be set in and around Adelaide's Port River.

Entitled A Dog, a Dolphin and a Horse the film has been inspired in part by this famous photograph (below) taken by Martin Jacka which first ran in The Advertiser.

A Dog, a Dolphin and a Horse will be directed by Craig Monahan (Healing, The Interview, Peaches) and the producers are currently seeking development funding via the Australian Cultural fund. https://australianculturalfund.org.au/projects/a-dog-a-dolphin-and-a-horse/

Craig Monahan said, 'donations to the fund are tax deductible will be used to write a script from the considerable research that has already been done on the topic. We have been working with dolphin watch expert Dr Mike Bossley to ensure everything that is captured in the script is authentic and true to life on Adelaide's Port River.

'A Dog, a Dolphin and a Horse will be a quintessential coming of age story for people who enjoy watching stories about family and what it is to grow up in a challenging world. It's about parenting and nature and following your heart and being true to yourself and the ones you love. At its core, DDH is about learning to put down roots. Its themes of family and the environment are universal.

'The Adelaide Port River has a unique eco-system and is one of those rare places on earth where dolphins have made their home in a city river. These dolphins are intelligent, graceful and cheeky and also protected. Yet not everyone on the river sees them in a good light. Some find them a nuisance and a couple of the dolphins have been found slaughtered. This quiet community and its unique way of life is a microcosm of a much bigger world'.
