Adelaide Festival Centre's Cabaret Festival was honoured with the 'Sustained Contribution by an Organization or Group' award at South Australia's art and cultural awards, The Ruby Awards on Friday night.

This award recognises the significant contribution that Adelaide Cabaret Festival has made to the arts and cultural life of South Australia.

Adelaide Festival Centre CEO and Artistic Director Douglas Gautier said: "Adelaide Festival Centre has just put on its 13th Cabaret Festival and over this time the Festival has grown to be the largest and most comprehensive Cabaret Festival in the world. It receives significant national and international recognition for its varied and high quality programming and has a reputation of highlighting the best local, national and International Artists in the cabaret genre. It enlivens June in the city of Adelaide at a time which is ordinarily very quiet - activating hotels, restaurants and other venues in the city as well as the Adelaide Festival Centre.

Adelaide Festival Centre is very proud of the success of Adelaide Cabaret Festival, and we are extremely honored to receive this award."

Festival Director Kate Ceberano said, "What a thrill to be a part of this juggernaut that is "Adelaide Cabaret Festival"! A rare jewel is this festival, celebrating the virtuosity of contemporary cabaret artists.

Hosting icons of cabaret like Tim Minchin, Meow Meow, Eddie Perfect and Kristen Chenoweth, it's a flat out nonstop show off of a festival that's sole purpose is to entertain. It's been the highlight of my career to have been a part of this journey so far, and I can't wait to go off with a bang for 2014!'

The 2013 Adelaide Cabaret Festival was hugely successful and received a wonderful response from both audiences and participants.

The Festival achieved a record box office being 21% higher than the box office achieved in 2012, which in itself was a new record by 12%.
