Wichita's Orpheum Theatre has a number of upcoming events throughout the year, including productions of THE KING AND I, GODSPELL, and a concert by Loretta Lynn.

On March 4-5 The Sunrise Christian Academy presents their annual production at the Orpheum, this year's selection being Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE KING AND I. The show features such classic songs as "Getting to Know You," "Hello, Young Lovers," and "I Whistle a Happy Tune."

Tickets for THE KIND AND I are $7 in advance for adults and $5 in advance for students and kids and $8 adult tickets and $6 student and kid tickets on the day of the show. Tickets available at Sunrise Christian Academy by calling 316-744-9262.

Then, on March 12-13 the Highland Acting Company presents Stephen Schwartz' GODSPELL.
One of the longest running off-Broadway musicals comes to the Orpheum Theatre. The Highland Acting Company, based out of Ashville, NC, presents a modern portrayal of GODSPELL - including a new, totally original act - RESURRECTIO.

GODSPELL opened on Broadway in 1971 and has been a hit for millions ever since. Memorable songs "Day by Day" and "Prepare Ye" will be performed by a live band, along with several new, original pieces. This is a new version of a Broadway classic by the same person, Stephen Schwartz, who composed WICKED, that played to thousands in Wichita recently.

Tickets for GODSPELL are $12 in advance and $15 the day of the show and are available at Select-A-Seat by calling (316) 755-7328 or online by going to www.selectaseat.com.

Leading country vocalists and songwriter of the 1960s Loretta Lynn will perform at the Orpheum on August 13 at 8PM.

For over four decades now, Loretta has fashioned a body of work that is artistically and commercially successful as well as culturally significant. Her music has confronted many of the major social issues of her time, and her life story is a rags-to-riches tale familiar to pop, rock and country fans alike. The Coal Miner's Daughter-the tag refers to a hit single, an album, a best-selling autobiography, an Oscar-winning film, and to Lynn herself-has journeyed from the poverty of the Kentucky hills to Nashville superstardom to her current status as an honest-to-goodness American icon.

Her latest album, the Jack White-produced Van Lear Rose, is poised now to remind the world yet again of Lynn's power as a vocalist and her skill as a songwriter. As she puts it on "Story of My Life," the new album's closing track: "Not half bad for this ol' KY girl, I guess... Here's the story of my life. Listen close, I'll tell it twice."

Tickets are $75 for rows A-K, $65 for L-W, $45 for Mezzanine and $25 for Balcony. Tickets are available at Select-A-Seat by calling (316) 755-7328, online by going to www.selectaseat.com, or at any Dillon's Superstores, and Plant Employee Clubs.
