West End comedy Yes, Prime Minister has packed up their bags and move next door to the Gielgud Theater. The recession-busting play, which has run constantly since May 2010, either in the West End or on tour, moved from the 775-seat Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue to the even bigger 889-seat Gielgud Theatre, just one door down. For the first time in recent history, the two neighbouring theatres are both displaying hoardings for the same show.

One of the most successful comedies in recent years, AnTony Jay and Jonathan Lynn's Yes, Prime Minister has played to sell out audiences at Chichester Festival Theatre and the Gielgud Theatre last year followed by a UK wide tour this Spring and is currently playing at the Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. At the end of the current run on September 17th, the production will pack up at the Apollo and move next door back into The Gielgud Theatre for a final 8 weeks.

Winning the Whatsonstage.com award for Best New Comedy, Yes, Prime Minister continues to demonstrate that the public have an insatiable appetite for the sharp political comedy that made the television series such colossal hits.

The signature roles of Prime Minister Jim Hacker and Sir Humphrey Appleby will continue to be performed by Richard McCabe and Simon Williams as they continue to grapple with a country in financial and political meltdown.

Since it opened in the summer of 2010, Yes Prime Minister has attracted an array of political figures including Chris Huhne, Theresa May, Lord Lawson, Iain Duncan Smith, Eric Pickles, Diane Abbott and John Bercow, making it the talk of the corridors of power. The original TV series ran across eighteen years with a total of 38 episodes. Particularly popular in Australia and New Zealand, plans are underway for the stage play to open at The Melbourne Theatre Company in February 2012.
