YES, PRIME MINISTER Moves To Gielgud Theater
By: BWW News Desk Sep. 17, 2011
West End comedy Yes, Prime Minister has packed up their bags and move next door to the Gielgud Theater. The recession-busting play, which has run constantly since May 2010, either in the West End or on tour, moved from the 775-seat Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue to the even bigger 889-seat Gielgud Theatre, just one door down. For the first time in recent history, the two neighbouring theatres are both displaying hoardings for the same show.
One of the most successful comedies in recent years, AnTony Jay and Jonathan Lynn's Yes, Prime Minister has played to sell out audiences at Chichester Festival Theatre and the Gielgud Theatre last year followed by a UK wide tour this Spring and is currently playing at the Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. At the end of the current run on September 17th, the production will pack up at the Apollo and move next door back into The Gielgud Theatre for a final 8 weeks.Jonathan Lynn Director
