The HAIRSPRAY Cast Visits All Star Lanes Smash hit musical Hairspray has returned to Manchester's Opera House for an extended two week run and, yesterday, some of the cast enjoyed a '60s themed afternoon at All Star Lanes.

Rebecca Mendoza, who stars as the show's heroine Tracy Turnblad, Edward Chitticks (heartthrob Link Larkin), Monifa James (Little Inez) and Aimee Moore (Amber Von Tussle) visited the stylish Great Northern venue for an afternoon of bowling and milkshakes, and were in extremely high spirits following a standing ovation at Monday's opening night performance.

Edward Chitticks enthused 'It was epic, it really was! The audience were so with us. We're in for a good two weeks', with Monifa James adding 'The audience in Manchester are out of this world. It's so nice performing to a big audience that are so enthusiastic about the show'.

Rebecca Mendoza, who is making her stage debut in the production, explained 'Tracy is this full of life, big, bubbly girl who wants to dance on TV but also tackles a lot of issues which are relevant to society now. She doesn't stop and it's so much fun!'

Featuring the iconic music and lyrics of Academy Award, Tony and Emmy-winning duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, this big, bold and beautiful production is choreographed by Olivier Award-winning Drew McOnie with direction from Paul Kerryson. This 37 week tour follows the phenomenally successful 2016 UK tour which played to packed out houses and received public and critical acclaim across the country.

It's Baltimore 1962, where Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, is on a mission to follow her dreams and dance her way onto national TV. Tracy's audition makes her a local star and soon she is using her new-found fame to fight for equality, bagging local heartthrob Link Larkin along the way.

Other cast includes Norman Pace (ITV1's The Hale and Pace Show) as Wilbur Turnblad, Matt Rixon (The Ladykillers, Around the World in 80 Days) who reprises his role as Edna Turnblad, musical theatre star Brenda Edwards (Chicago, We Will Rock You, The X Factor) returning as Motormouth Maybelle and Layton Williams (Bad Education, Rent) as Seaweed.

Hairspray continues at the Opera House, Manchester until Saturday 7th April with tickets from £18.
