The Sylvia Young theater school will move to a new location next year, allowing them to admit more students for part time and full time classes. They have been looking to move to a larger space for over two years and are now in the process of signing a contract which would secure a 75-year lease on a building near Edgware Road, which is currently used as a church.

Sylvia Young Theatre School was founded in 1980, and moved to its current Marylebone home in 1981.

The Sylvia Young theater school has been a launching point for the careers of stars like Leona Lewis, Denise Van Outen and Amy Winehouse.

The school principal Sylvia Young had been upset with the small space in which they were originally housed, as the building limited the amount of students that could be admitted.

The new site is three times larger than the current premises and so the Sylvia Young theater school will be able to take on more students next September.

According to Young, the first increased intake will be among children aged between 11 and 13 in Years 7-9.

The school is aiming to take up residence in the new building in September of 2009, just in time for the start of the new academic year.
