Thirteen years after its Los Angeles debut, the cult musical Bare will get its European premiere at the Union Theatre, running 24 April-25 May 2013, directed by Paul Taylor-Mills. Opening night is set for April 30 at 7.30pm. Cast to be confirmed.

A contemporary rock musical, Bare follows a group of teens wrestling with issues of identity, sexuality, and religion at a co-ed Catholic boarding school. Provocative, raw, and unyielding in its exploration of how today's generation navigates the tightrope between adolescence and adulthood, Bare examines the consequences of baring a soul-or hiding it from those who matter most.

Through its pulsating rock score and emotionally charged story, Bare has thrilled and moved audiences around the world in over 100 productions since its first staging in Los Angeles in 2000. Now it is to get its European premiere from the award-winning creative team behind the sell-out production of Steel Pier at The Union and Rent at Greenwich Theatre.

Director Paul Taylor-Mills' credits include Little Shop of Horrors, White Bear (nominated for four Off West End Awards, including Best Director); A Clockwork Orange and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Lost Theatre; the European premiere of My Big Gay Italian Wedding, sold-out seasons Above The Stag, C Venues, Edinburgh, and Greenwich Theatre; and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas at the Union (Off West End nomination for Best Director); Steel Pier at the Union (6 Off West End Nominations and a WhatsOnStage nomination for Best Off West End Production); and Rent at Greenwich Theatre (Winner of Best Regional Production at The BroadwayWorld Awards).

Bare features Book by John Hartmere and Damon Intrabartolo, Music by Damon Intrabartolo and Lyrics by John Hartmere. The Union's production will be directed by Paul Taylor-Mills, with choreographer Racky Plews, musical director Huw Evans, designer David Shields, casting by Will Burton, Grindrod Casting, and producer Kylie Vilcins.

Union Theatre is located at 204 Union Street, Southwark, LONDON SE1 0LX. Box Office: 020 7261 9876 or www.ticketsource.co.uk/uniontheatre. The show will run Tuesday to Sunday at 7.30pm.
