ONCE UPON A TIME – THE LYRICS OF ROBERT GOULD Comes to the Union Theatre

Librettist/lyricist Robert Gould will return to the Union Theatre on Sunday April 29 with Once Upon a Time, a concert of songs with his lyrics performed by a cast of West End and Off-West End musical theatre performers. The songs will include an eclectic mix of musical theatre, indie pop, folk/rock and swing with music penned by composers from the UK, USA, Sweden and the Netherlands, including Bo Wastesson (a highly renowned composer from Sweden, whose works include the musicals "The Brothers Lionheart", "The Blacksmith's Daughter" and "Gerda") as well as Tristan Bons, Rob Eyles, Alex James Ellison, Christopher J. Orton, Joe Sterling, Robert Thomson, and Dylan Wynford.

Robert Gould is co-writer (with Christopher J. Orton) of the highly acclaimed, Offie Award nominated musical "My Land's Shore" which received its world premiere at Ye Olde Rose And Crown Theatre in London in February 2017 and its Welsh professional premiere at Theatr Soar in Merthyr in February 2018. An album of songs with Gould's lyrics - "Words Shared With Friends" - with vocals by a stellar cast of West End vocalists, was released in 2014 and was nominated for a Broadwayworld Album Award as Best Compilation Album. He has presented a number of concerts of his songs at London Fringe venues, including the Leicester Square Theatre Lounge, the Battersea Barge, The Pheasantry, The Other Palace Studio and the Union Theatre.

The cast of vocalists for the concert will include Charlotte Bradford (Quiz, School Of Rock, Mamma Mia), Lily De-La-Haye (My Land's Shore, Cats, Parade), Alex James Ellison (The Secret Garden, Bright Young Things, Aliens Love Underpants, Apartment 40C), Gareth Evans (Loserville, BBC's Pitch Battle), Candace Furbert (Tina, Dreamgirls, Book Of Mormon), Leyla Holly (Murder By The Book, Frankenstein, Les Miserables), Kate Hume (Chicken Little, Red Riding Hood, The Kissing Dance), Joe Kerry (Fiver, Bright Young Things), Michael Robert-Lowe (My Land's Shore, Snow White Rotten To The Core), Danny Michaels (Wicked), Brady Isaacs Pearce (West End Live Lounge), Cameron Potts (My Land's Shore, A Christmas Carol), Keith Ramsay (Julius Caesar, Billy, BBC's Casualty, Shetland & New Tricks), Joe Sterling (The Simon & Garfunkel Story, Buddy Holly & the Cricketers, Honk, The Jungle Book), and Dylan Wynford (My Land's Shore, Bright Young Things, Parade).

The concert will feature piano accompaniment by Aaron Clingham (My Land's Shore, Metropolis, The Kissing Dance, It's A Bird It's A Plane It's Superman!) and will be produced by Carrie Baxter.
